Japanese Woodblock Master Yoshitoshi’s Ghost and Moon Stories

Tsukioka Yoshitoshi (1839-1892) has been called the last great Ukiyo-e master following in his famous teacher Kuniyoshi’s footsteps with his brilliant and subversive warrior and ghost designs. During Yoshitoshi’s life his mental health and financial situation were far from excellent but he kept on working with unprecedented devotion.

Extraordinary Landscapes

In the summer of 2007, a curatorial team from George Eastman House invited twelve photographers to photograph the sites designated by The Cultural Landscape Foundation as their 2007 Landslide landscapes. The photographs focus on culturally significant landscapes at risk of alteration or destruction, and include trees and other plantings that have witnessed or withstood major cultural or natural events.

Iconoclastic Design

The word Iconoclastic rolls of the tongue with the dips and turns of a roller coaster. I came across it recently when reading an article about industrial designer, artist and architect, Ron Arad. Simply put in the context I use it now, it is someone who challenges or overturns traditional beliefs, customs and values.
