Graphic Design Careers: An Overview
Graphic design careers are any careers in which a person uses graphics to sell a product or make a product or publication look appealing. Graphic designers create commercials, print ads, layouts for periodicals, billboards and the designs and graphics you see on the boxes of pretty much any product you buy.
Types of Graphic Design CareersGraphic designers work in many different settings and create many different types of objects. Basically, anything synthetic you buy or see is probably the product of-or at least bears the stamp of-a graphic designer: a cereal box, a billboard, a road sign, a magazine layout or a travel brochure.
Cinema 4D PlanesmartCinema 4D has a brand new application that will allow you to import a layered Photoshop ‘psd’ file, then map the individual layers in Z space. This will let you capture the layered images you’ve created in Photoshop and apply this in your Cinema 4D file. At this time, PlaneSmart is displayed on the home page of the Ciniversity Maxon web site. Technically it is a member only plugin but there are promotion specials for trial membership. Ciniversity is a great resource itself and has many resources that are available to members and non members alike.
Little Dot: Harvey Comics SuperstarHarvey Comic’s cartoon character Little Dot (Dot Polka was her “real” name) was a little girl with a one track mind obsessed with dots, spots and round objects of most any type. She first appeared in the September 1949 issue of Harvey’s Sad Sack (a comic about the misadventures of an army private) as a backup feature. Originally she wasn’t obsessed with dots and was drawn in a different style. The cartoon character became popular and in 1953 she was featured in her own comic, Little Dot. The drawing style was changed to match the “Harvey” style and she was given her one track obsession with dots.
